WATER MITIGATION AND DRYING
Water damage restoration begins with mitigation. MITIGATION is the step you take as a home or business owner to prevent a water damage from becoming more severe.
Mitigation is most effective when you call in the professionals from Blue Sky. We are able to remove the water you can see, and more importantly, the water you can not see that becomes trapped in wall cavities, ceiling cavities, and building materials.
Blue Sky starts the process by evaluating and documenting the source of and time of your damage. We then take the necessary steps to protect your structure and the occupants.
Our initial response can reduce or even prevent secondary damage which is damage to materials or furnishings that did not have direct contact with water. Our mitigation services also minimize the risk of mold growth, odor, and other health and safety concerns. Finally our rapid response lowers the overall expense associated with your claim.
Our trained technicians will use professional moisture detection equipment to determine the extent of contamination and to establish drying goals (a baseline for your project). We also use the RED-T drying process.
RED-T DRYING PROCESS
R – REMOVAL of excess water. Extraction is one of two methods used to remove moisture from a structure. Extraction is 1200 times more effective than dehumidification alone.
E – EVAPORATION is step 2. Evaporation is the key to effective dehumidification. Air movers are used to push trapped moisture out of your materials into the air so it can be removed by dehumidifiers. Blue Sky uses industry approved formulas to determine the number of air movers to use in your structure for optimal evaporation.
D – DEHUMIDIFICATION is the collection and removal of the vapor pushed into the air by the evaporation process. It is VERY important that evaporation and dehumidification be properly balanced and monitored. Too much of either can hinder the drying process or cause secondary damage to materials and contents.
T – TEMPERATURE CONTROL is important to effective and efficient dry out. Temperature effects how the dehumidifiers operate, your comfort during the process, and the prevention of secondary damage through condensation.
These four steps are carefully monitored by Blue Sky’s professional team so a proper balance is achieved and maintained within your indoor environment.
